Western men die some five years earlier than
women. They suffer more from nearly every medical disease and ailment that there is.
And yet, far more money is spent by governments on women's health than on men's
health. Men are also nowadays educationally disadvantaged significantly compared to
women; with the curriculum, the teaching methods and the resources being
designed to cater far more for women and girls than for men and boys. Men make up 80% of the homeless. There are more of them in
social service care-homes as
boys. They are many times more likely to be wrongfully arrested, wrongfully imprisoned, mugged, assaulted or murdered. They are 5 times more likely to lose their
children when families break down, 4 times more likely to lose their homes, 4 times more likely to commit suicide,
20 times more likely to be killed or injured at work, 20 times more likely to be
imprisoned, and, probably, more than 100 times more likely to be demeaned, denigrated and ridiculed by the
mainstream media. Men also pay much more in taxes than women but receive far
less in benefits from the government.
In other words, when compared to women, men are
significantly disadvantaged when it comes to their health, their lifespans, their homes, their
children, their education, their families, the tax burden, the law, the benefit
system, and even when it comes to their
own personal
safety.
They are nowadays also being heavily discriminated against in the work
place.
How is it possible, therefore, that women are being 'oppressed' more than men?

Affirmative Action for Women
USA MIT
vows to counter gender bias - which basically means that men are going to
have to work a lot harder than women, and achieve a lot more than them, in order
to aspire to the same levels in their jobs.
"Some female professors
told the authors of the reports that they were effectively punished - lost shots
at tenure or leadership posts - for having children or devoting more time to
their personal lives."
It's called 'choice'!
If women CHOOSE to have children
and CHOOSE to spend more of their time on personal matters and less on their
jobs, then they should have to take the employment consequences in exactly the
same way as would any man.
With regard to this issue it is
also worth remembering that a US study not long ago showed that male academics
at the top of the career ladder were putting much more effort into their
academic research areas than were the women.
When the statistics of these
greater efforts by the males were entered into the equations, it was found that
there was no bias against women. The difference in earnings matched the
difference in effort - as judged by the number of publications etc.
The women were not reaching the
same levels in their careers as were the men because they weren't working as
hard at their jobs as the men, nor achieving as much.
Affirmative action in favour of
women in the employment sphere simply results in a diminution of the overall
competence of the organisation in which this happens. And, the more important is
the job, the worse will be the negative effects of affirmative action when
filling it.
Further, not only will there be a
reduction in the effectiveness of any organisation that employs affirmative
action in favour of women instead of choosing the most worthy candidates
regardless of gender, there will be also be an ongoing slide in the standards of
the candidates who seek such jobs. After all, why would women need to achieve
very much when they can get selected on the basis of their gender rather than on
their worthiness? And why should men bother when the work that they do may not
count for very much?
BOTH genders will be
de-motivated.
In addition, affirmative action
doesn't help most women. How can women benefit when the society in which they
live has organisations and businesses being run by people chosen because of
their gender rather than their competence?
Finally, it is becoming evident
to the general public that when women do achieve high positions or receive
accolades in connection with their jobs, the likelihood that they are not truly
deserving of them, but that they have been awarded them simply because of their
gender, is increasing. Needless to say, this doesn't help women at all. And, in
particular, it tarnishes the achievements of all those women who are worthy of
their positions - the true percentage of which must be falling all the time!
