on abortion doctors being attacked ...
Dear Harry
I have been a long time fan of your website and have not written earlier.
However, I have a burning question for you.
In your 'most fabulous' piece 'Why Violence is often Justified' [LINK]
you argue that violence by men who are being threatend with losng their children
is 'justified'.
Would you say the same for those who threaten violence against abortion
doctors?
G
Hello G
Yes, is the simple answer. Of course violence is 'justified' - at least in
the eyes of those who believe that abortion is murder.
After all, if you are a person who believes that killing millions of these
14-week old beings ...

... every year, is the same as killing millions of these beings ...

... or these beings ...

... every year, then how can it not be 'justifiable' to do all
that you can do to prevent such massacres and, if necessary, to target those
people who are doing all the killings?
Well, there's your answer!
"Men should keep their pants on
Interestingly, a few days ago I was being wound up by a radio programme
wherein a typical selfish, self-aggrandised woman was parroting the usual tripe
about, "Men should keep their pants on if they want to avoid unwanted
pregnancies."
She was also arguing that men are just as responsible as women for unwanted
babies
- when, in fact, it is women who are nowadays totally
responsible for producing babies (e.g. see my piece
Why Should a Man Bear Responsibility for a Woman who Decides to have a Baby?)
and then, later in the same programme, the issue of abortion came up. And,
needless to say, this woman then argued that women
should be completely entitled to have abortions more or less on demand.
She did not say, "Women should keep their knickers on if they want to avoid
unwanted pregnancies."
No, Sir!
When it comes to women wanting to get themselves out of having
to deal with the consequences of unwanted pregnancies, no
financial or moral expense must be spared.
(Men, of course, have to bear the consequences - whether they like it or not
- of whatever the woman chooses to do; e.g.
Rant Against the Child Support Agency.)
And then, this very same woman started jabbering on about the patriarchy and
how women should be able to do whatever they want to do with their own bodies.
"My body, my choice."
I nearly suffered a hernia as a result of screaming so loudly at the radio -
more or less as follows ...
This ...

... is most definitely NOT
'YOUR'
body!
But, back to the issue.
How can it not be justified for you to attack
those whom you perceive to be committing millions of acts of
murder every year?
My own view on the moral aspects of abortion are fairly ropy, and not at all
clear.
Thankfully!
I say, "thankfully", because if I was one of those people who was certain
that thousands of children were being killed every week
by abortionists, then I think that I would be driven insane by what is going on.
Well, thankfully, I do not know whether or not that 14-week old being in the
picture is a child or not.
And I think that most of me does not actually want to know.
But I know this.
The 'my body, my choice' argument fails completely and utterly if that being
is a child.
And if that being is a child, then abortionists are, indeed, committing
thousands of murders every week.
And if the above sounds somewhat muddled and confused then this is because
somewhat muddled and confused is exactly how I feel about the whole issue.
Best wishes,
Harry
