Cutting Edge - Kiss and Sell

Channel 4's documentary programme Cutting Edge (4/4/00) showed a certain Emma Padfield who has made her money from kiss-and-tell stories. She has set up a neat little office equipped with the latest business gadgetry in order to help her track down male celebrities.

And footballers are some of her most lucrative victims.

Emma spends her evenings traipsing around the nightclubs and restaurants seeking to attract the attention of men in order to entrap them into some kind of 'relationship', as she puts it.

Once he is hooked, Emma gets in touch with the media. If they are interested, then Emma leads the man on. If not, the poor sod is ditched. She expects to receive £10,000 for each good story that she can manufacture.

Another Emma, this time Emma Parris, managed to have an affair with three professional footballers at the same time! She was originally offered £1000 for her stories, but she refused.

She held out, successfully, for £5000.

And women in the UK wonder why it is that men, nowadays, have so little regard for them!

And it's no use protesting and saying, "Well, we're not doing such things. It's not our fault. It's just a few money-grabbing, deceitful little tarts out there doing this!"

It's not good enough! Real women should be howling with rage at the media for encouraging, with payment, this type of emotional deceit and abuse of trust, because it effects ALL OF US.

When real women are actually happy and content to see men being treated in this way, they shouldn't be surprised that men are giving up on them and becoming more hostile toward them. Not just their partners, but the plumbers, the decorators, the car mechanics, the salesmen ...

And the media inject anti-male hostility into our lives every day!

Do real women benefit from all this, when vast areas of their lives and relationships are being poisoned as a result?

And what does it teach our children? It teaches them, and everybody else, that's it's all right to cheat, deceive and hurt, just for money. It's OK. After all, the media does it.

Do real women benefit from all this? Do they really look forward to depending upon the kind of people that these poisonous greedy media folk are creating?
