We want you to sign up and help bring a change in the law so killer joyriders can be jailed for life.
The Evening Chronicle has launched a campaign calling for a change in the law to allow courts to hand out the sentence, rather than the maximum 10 years at present.
The launch follows the death of six-year-old Rebecca Sawyer in Ashington, Northumberland, on New Year's Day after her father's car was hit by joyrider Ian Carr.
Carr was jailed for nine and a half years on January 31 after admitting causing death by dangerous driving and five other motoring offences.
Carr, 27, had previously been banned from driving for life - including one for another joyride killing - and a total of 89 criminal convictions.
The campaign is backed by Rebecca Sawyer's parents, Steven and Sharon, and local MP Denis Murphy.,
We are calling on icNewcastle visitors to sign the online petition to add their weight to the call for change.
The family of Rebecca Sawyer has created a website in memory of the six-year-old.
The tribute has been put together by her mother Sharon and gives a full picture of her daughter's life before she was killed in a hit and run crash.

Rebecca died thanks to everyone at the BBC who have for so long promoted and
glamourised thuggish uncaring behaviour in our youth by, for example, creating
and broadcasting the very popular highly- influential long- running soap opera;
Eastenders.
She died thanks to all the so-called child abuse experts working in
organisations such as the National Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To
Children who have succeeded in
making it virtually impossible for adults, teachers and parents to control and
discipline our growing youth and, hence, our young adult males.
She died thanks to all the social workers who have laboured for years to drive
fathers out of their homes thus increasing young male delinquency a hundred
fold.
These are the people who are really responsible for Rebecca's death - and for
the millions of other lesser tragedies that have to be suffered daily by people
thanks to their downright politically-corrected stupidity.
Oh look! Another girl dies thanks to people like the folks at the NSPCC ...
... An inquest into a 2-year-old who drowned after she wandered off found that her death was an accident caused by neglect.
Clive Peachy, a bricklayer, had said that he passed a toddler but did not stop, fearing people might think that he was trying to abduct her.
He said: "I
kept thinking I should go back. The reason I didn't go back was because I
thought people might think I was trying to abduct her.

The so-called 'oppression' of
women ...

Western men die some five years earlier than
women. They suffer more from nearly every medical disease and ailment that there is.
And yet, far more money is spent by governments on women's health than on men's
health. Men are also nowadays educationally disadvantaged significantly compared to
women; with the curriculum, the teaching methods and the resources being
designed to cater far more for women and girls than for men and boys. Men make up 80% of the homeless. There are more of them in
social service care-homes as
boys. They are many times more likely to be wrongfully arrested, wrongfully imprisoned, mugged, assaulted or murdered. They are 5 times more likely to lose their
children when families break down, 4 times more likely to lose their homes, 4 times more likely to commit suicide,
20 times more likely to be killed or injured at work, 20 times more likely to be
imprisoned, and, probably, more than 100 times more likely to be demeaned, denigrated and ridiculed by the
mainstream media. Men also pay much more in taxes than women but receive far
less in benefits from the government.
In other words, when compared to women, men are
significantly disadvantaged when it comes to their health, their lifespans, their homes, their
children, their education, their families, the tax burden, the law, the benefit
system, and even when it comes to their
own personal
safety.
They are nowadays also being heavily discriminated against in the work
place.
How is it possible, therefore, that women are being 'oppressed' more than men?
In what areas?
